David Player, born during the dark days of the war and bombed out of his Surrey home, came to the Midlands as an infant where he attended Edgbaston Preparatory School and later Wrekin College in Shropshire, where he came under the influence of the Art master who recognised that his talent indicated a career as an artist.

The necessities of life however caused him first to obtain his professional qualification as a Chartered Surveyor. He then worked as a Project Manager designing residential developments on the Continent and later
properties in the South Midlands.

His desire to paint was re-awakened when given some oil paints to occupy him whilst recuperating from a skiing injury. The demand for his work became apparent and since, his time has been devoted to painting portraits and a variety of subjects.
